From: dave | posted: 26.08.2004 18:25 had one for a couple of years, purchased from Currys/dixons, screen went after 10 month, repaired under guarantee but broke again four months later. Now used as a base unit. Aldi have a gericom on sale this thursday (2nd sept 04). Sadly enough, I've bought more computers from aldi than Currys/dixons and prefer them. No idea what aftersales would be like as both (medions) are working with no problems. |

From: snow | posted: 19.08.2005 10:46 had a problem with the screen...went back to aldi's and under that 2 year gaurantee...although gericom offered to pick up the old lap top and repair it...i declined the offer of repair...i had no problem changing it to the new supersonic instead ..had that now for 4 months with no problems so far..but if there was a problem...you should go back to the aldi store where u bought it...i found them to be most helpful...if you need any extras look in the paper work that camewith yr pc or go back tothe aldi store and ask them how to go about getting parts. |

From: cliff | posted: 22.08.2005 20:07 Purchased from Aldi Dec. 27th 04. 1st problem the advertised battery life is 6 hours, in fact the battery that came with my computer shows a max of 3 hrs.only. Also whilst working on the computer it shut down completely without warning and would not restart. The laptop was duly collected and went away for repair. They state a turnaround of 8 to10 days, forget it. After 4 weeks and numerous phone calls it still had not been returned. I Contacted Aldi (who were most helpful) and they chased it up. Thanks to their intervention it was eventually returned 6 weeks and 2 days later. ( No apology from Gericom) If you are considering purchasing one of their laptops, I suggest that you give it a lot of thought. |
