From: Ivan | posted: 17.02.2007 21:50 Hello everyone! I've just bought freevents x55 and the first thing was to change the operating system. Stupid me :( Killing the recovery partition. Thanks to this forum, I was able to find the place where they support these devices: http://www.pcservicecall.co.uk Looks like selling recovery CDs is their first business :( 30£ for sending the CD and allow 30 days for it :(( And I have bought a laptop to be a help on a trip, which is urgent :( So much for 950 euro :( Is there anyone, who has this model who could create a repair DVD for me and upload it online? I will gratefully pay 30 euro via paypal or wire transfer immediately. And I will give an access to FTP where you can upload files. Help me please! From: Andy S | posted: 26.02.2007 12:50 Only had my X56 a month and the backlight on the screen failed. Sent it for repair and came back OK but lasted 1 week and has gone again. Its off to get fixed again. How many times before I can get my money back? I also have touchpad wear, a quite distint white wear area about 20mm by 10mm. Will it affect the future performance of the laptop. BTW due to the above I definately wouldnt recommend getting one of these machines. |

From: shadowq | posted: 27.02.2007 22:52 been using the philips freevents X54 model for 7 months now, excellent machine for the money i payed at that time £800.00 i work in i.t related tech help, and can say this is well worth th money, fully loaded notebook, core duo, nvidia 7400 512mb, 2048gb ram, 100gb hdd, hd audio, bluetooth, wifi, memory card reader, it runs all applications with a glitch, even runs games without a problem, doom3, fear,juiced,quake4, and many others. games run smooth, and the screen is slick with almost x-black features, would recommend this machine to anyone, as i use mine daily and most of the time is running, never had a issue, and the fan barely kicks in, only after extreme hours of use on gaming, will i gt the fan to kick in, but yet still not loud at all, bluetooth is great, picks up all bluetooth devices with out a problem, the wifi card is excellent, keyboard is nice to the touch, touchpad very smooth and glide easy, not so good is the texture on the touchpad the material used, as finger mark is left behind, of contsnat use on left button on touchpad, cant really find a issue with this machine to report bad, ONLY THING TO ANNOY IS.. SUPPORT FOR THIS MODEL.. not much help around, regrads updated drivers for graphics cards, even though u can get the latest nvidia drivers using a certain hack to make the driver work from 3rd party website, bios update is a mystery as no support yet found by myself, as philips is name on machine, but philips not make it, sum calobration with sum other partner sumwhere.. ALL IN ALL 10/10.. GREAT SOLID LOADED MACHINE |
