ATI's All-in-Wonder series combines 2D/3D performance with the ability to play DVDs, CDs, MP3s and VideoCDs, as well as watching TV on your computer, without taking up any of your spare PCI slots.

The basic ATI Radeon 9000 chip, which forms the basis of this Sapphire card, is probably the best performing entry-level chip around at the moment and is one of the only ones in this price bracket to offer Pixel Shading.

Using the 0.15 micron RV250 core, it has four pixel pipelines, 275MHz core speed, two 400MHz RAMDACS and supports DirectX 8.1 and AGP 4X. Sapphire's The Beast AIW 9000 PRO uses 64MB of DDR memory running at 540MHz (270MHz DDR).

Being an All-in-Wonder card, there are some extra features built in. There's a 125-channel Philips stereo TV tuner, ATI's Theater chip which handles analogue video, and stereo inputs for digital conversion and capture. You also get TV-On-Demand and Gemstar Guide Plus for recording TV programs. Still image and video capture can be handled up to a resolution of 720 x 480 pixels and 30 frames per second.

The Sapphire The Beast AIW 9000 PRO comes with a box full of goodies; a break-out box for S-Video and Composite connections, Audio to Video out cable, S-Video and Composite extension cables, DVI-I to VGA adaptor (the latter being particularly useful as the board only has a DVI-I port on the back plate).

The driver CD also contains Sapphire's Redline, an overclocking utility, and a full suite of ATI's own MultiMedia Software. To wrap up the video editing side of things, you also get a copy of Pinnacle's Studio 8 SE.
