Buffalo's latest network attached storage (NAS) drive is about hit the market, and it's, well, really quite small. Not in terms of storage, with the device holding a terabyte of data.
No, it's the physical footprint of the drive that's compact, thanks to the fact that it's a NAS device that's featuring 2.5-inch drives, as opposed to the traditional desktop 3.5-inch hard disks.
Two 500GB drives are packed into the unit, which at its longest edge is just 135mm. No fan is needed inside the device, and it can be set to turn on and off along with your PCs.
It has Gigabit Ethernet support, a built-in print server, RAID 0 and 1 support and a host of other features. Buffalo is also planning to release a 500GB version in due course.
The price for the 1TB edition has been set at £239, and it's available from the end of May.
