Corel has confirmed the latest version of its strong-yet-generally-underappreciated office suite, WordPerfect Office X4. Billing it as the world's first PDF office suite, Corel is promising that you can import, edit and export PDFs, taking away the requirement for another application to do that work for you.

File compatibility is broad, including support for Microsoft's controversial OOXML and the less controversial open document format (ODF).

And the suite itself isn't short of power: there are applications for word processing (WordPerfect X4), spreadsheets (Quattro Pro X4), presentations (er, Presentations X4), data analysis (Corel Visual Intelligence) and mail (WordPerfect MAIL - it's not us who insists on writing that in capital letters). And that's just the tip of what looks like a comprehensive software iceberg, if that's a metaphor we can use here.

The asking price is £235 for the full version of the Standard Edition, and £115 for the upgrade. The software is available now.
