Epson has announced that it will be launching the Business Inkjet B-500DN which is designed to deliver high-volume printing in full colour at the same cost as monochrome laser prints. High quality colour prints are also produced at virtually the same speed as monochrome, meaning the B-500DN allows businesses to produce documents in colour that may previously have been printed in black and white.

Capable of producing mono or colour prints at a claimed 37 pages per minute in draft quality, and up to 33 pages per minute at laser-like quality, the B-500DN is designed to handle the most demanding workloads. In line with other high-performance business printers, the B-500DN has two paper sources, which offer a combined capacity of 650 sheets of paper, and duplex printing is offered as standard.

The printer is also equipped with high-yield individual ink tanks capable of up to 8,000 pages between replacements, helping to ensure large print runs can be rapidly completed without interruption.

You won't have to rush to the store to grab one yet, though, as it's not due out until June 2008. The B-500DN will have a street price of £325 + VAT.
